Building permits

Caledon’s Building Services needs a permit for a finished basement or basement apartment, a deck more than 60 cm (24 in) above grade at any point, a shed of 15 m² (161 sq ft) or more, and any new or altered plumbing, heating or septic system. Replacing a furnace, water heater or air conditioner in a house, or swapping windows and doors in the same-size opening, doesn’t need one.

Water

Bolton, Mayfield West and the rest of southern Caledon get Lake Ontario water through Peel’s South Peel system, at 120 to 130 mg/L of hardness in 2025. Alton, Caledon Village, Caledon East, Palgrave, Cheltenham and Inglewood run on Peel-owned wells — Caledon Village measured 190 to 280 mg/L and Alton 320 to 330 mg/L, which Peel calls hard. Homes outside those systems are on private wells, which the owner maintains; Peel tests private well water for free.

Help centre

You see the price before you book. Some jobs are a flat price, some are priced by the measure — a bedroom, a window, a square foot — and some are by the hour; the page says which, and so does the app before you confirm. Prices on this site are the full price, Doyo’s service fee included — nothing is added at checkout. Your card is held when a pro is confirmed and charged only when the job is marked complete. If the work turns out bigger, the pro has to put the new figure to you in the chat and wait for your yes — under Ontario law they cannot charge more than 10% over the estimate without your agreement.
