By the hour. Before you book you see the pro’s hourly rate, the estimated time and Doyo’s service fee. Your card is held when a pro is confirmed and charged only when the job is marked complete. If the work turns out bigger, the pro has to put the new figure to you in the chat and wait for your yes — under Ontario law they cannot charge more than 10% over the estimate without your agreement.
Does my electrical job need a permit?
Most electrical work in Ontario has to be filed with the Electrical Safety Authority. A licensed contractor files it for the work they do — ask your pro, and they will tell you whether your job needs one.
Is a flickering light dangerous?
It can be a loose bulb, but it can also be a loose connection, which is a fire risk. If flickering comes with a burning smell, heat at the switch or a breaker that trips, turn the circuit off and book an electrician.
