Working in Milton
Basement flooding subsidy
Halton Region pays 50% of the cost, up to $1,600, to install a backwater valve inside the home, and 100%, up to $6,500, to disconnect the weeping tile and install a sump pump, for work done after July 15, 2024. The valve needs a building permit with a final inspection and a licensed plumber or qualified drainage contractor; each subsidy is once per property, and you apply within a year of the work.

Milton needs a building permit before any portion of a basement is finished, and a kitchen isn’t allowed in a finished basement unless the space is approved as a secondary dwelling unit. Basement permits are inspected in stages, including below-grade, above-grade and final plumbing inspections.

Yes. Plumbing is a compulsory trade in Ontario, so Doyo checks your Certificate of Qualification (306A) before you are offered plumbing work, and again when it is due to renew.
Some trades also ask for proof of liability insurance; the application tells you if yours does. Doyo reviews your documents — usually within a couple of business days.
Payouts
How payouts work
For jobs the customer pays by card through Doyo, your earnings reach your Doyo balance when the job is completed, and payouts are sent weekly by e-transfer. Tips are yours in full. On quote jobs, the deposit and balance are held until the customer confirms the work, and a warranty holdback is released after the warranty period.
