Building permits

Milton needs a building permit before any portion of a basement is finished, and a kitchen isn’t allowed in a finished basement unless the space is approved as a secondary dwelling unit. Basement permits are inspected in stages, including below-grade, above-grade and final plumbing inspections.

Water

Milton runs two separate water supplies that don’t mix: treated Lake Ontario water through Halton’s lake-based system, and groundwater from the Kelso well field. In 2025 the lake-based water averaged 126 mg/L of hardness (8.8 grains per gallon) and the well-based water 318 mg/L (22.3 grains per gallon).

Plumbing in Milton: common questions

Help centre

You see the price before you book. Some jobs are a flat price, some are priced by the measure — a bedroom, a window, a square foot — and some are by the hour; the page says which, and so does the app before you confirm. Prices on this site are the full price, Doyo’s service fee included — nothing is added at checkout. Your card is held when a pro is confirmed and charged only when the job is marked complete. If the work turns out bigger, the pro has to put the new figure to you in the chat and wait for your yes — under Ontario law they cannot charge more than 10% over the estimate without your agreement.
