Deck permits
In Oakville any deck attached to the house needs a building permit, whatever its size. A free-standing deck needs one once it is larger than 10 m² and higher than 61 cm above the ground, and every deck has to meet the zoning by-law.

Oakville needs a building permit to finish or renovate a basement for your own use; adding a bathroom, wet bar or other fixtures also needs a water service calculation form. A separate basement apartment follows the Town’s accessory apartment rules instead.

Oakville needs a permit to remove any tree on private property that is 15 cm or more in diameter at breast height. The fee is $65 for a first tree of 15–24 cm and $425 for each additional or larger tree; dead and high-risk trees, ash and buckthorn still need a permit but no fee. Healthy trees removed must be replaced — one new tree for every 10 cm of diameter.

No provincial licence
No provincial licence is needed to build a deck or a fence, but many decks need a building permit from the town. Say in your quote which permits the job needs and who applies for them.
Some trades also ask for proof of liability insurance; the application tells you if yours does. Doyo reviews your documents — usually within a couple of business days.
Payouts
How payouts work
For jobs the customer pays by card through Doyo, your earnings reach your Doyo balance when the job is completed, and payouts are sent weekly by e-transfer. Tips are yours in full. On quote jobs, the deposit and balance are held until the customer confirms the work, and a warranty holdback is released after the warranty period.
