Electricity
Hydro One delivers the electricity across most of King; a few lots along the Vaughan, Richmond Hill and Aurora boundaries are served by Alectra, and a strip west of Bathurst Street near Newmarket by NT Power. A service upgrade or meter move is requested from whichever utility is on your bill, after the electrician has taken out an ESA permit.

King does not issue electrical permits. In Ontario the licensed electrical contractor files the work with the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), which inspects it. Ask your electrician for the ESA notification number.

Licensed trade
Yes. Electrical work for hire in Ontario must be done by an ECRA/ESA Licensed Electrical Contractor, so Doyo checks the licence before you are offered electrical work and keeps it current. Customers can look the number up on the Electrical Safety Authority’s site.
Some trades also ask for proof of liability insurance; the application tells you if yours does. Doyo reviews your documents — usually within a couple of business days.
Payouts
How payouts work
For jobs the customer pays by card through Doyo, your earnings reach your Doyo balance when the job is completed, and payouts are sent weekly by e-transfer. Tips are yours in full. On quote jobs, the deposit and balance are held until the customer confirms the work, and a warranty holdback is released after the warranty period.
