Landscaping, decks & fences in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario

Whitchurch-Stouffville needs no building permit for a deck less than 600 mm (24 in) above grade that is not part of the main entrance, for a shed or other detached accessory building under 10 m² (108 sq ft) that meets zoning, or for a fence that does not enclose a pool. Finishing a basement does need a permit, as does a complete furnace-and-ductwork replacement; a new furnace with at least the same heat output as the old one does not. Whitchurch-Stouffville’s private tree by-law applies when a property goes through a site plan, plan of subdivision or consent application. Trees 30 cm (12 in) or more in diameter in the Town’s settlement areas then need the Town’s approval, and compensation, before they are removed. By written quote. A pro visits, looks at the space and sends a line-by-line quote in the app. You pay a deposit when you accept it, and Doyo holds that deposit until you confirm the work is done. Part of the pro’s payment is held back for a warranty period after completion, so there is still money on the table if something needs putting right.
