Building permits

King needs no building permit for a rear-yard deck under 10 m² (108 sq ft) that is not attached to the house, for a storage shed of 10 m² or less (up to 15 m² if detached, storage-only and with no plumbing), for a fence that does not enclose a pool, for re-shingling a house, or for a like-for-like furnace or water-heater replacement. Any deck over 10 m² or more than 600 mm (2 ft) above grade needs one, and so does repairing or installing a septic system.

Help centre

By written quote. A pro visits, looks at the space and sends a line-by-line quote in the app. You pay a deposit when you accept it, and Doyo holds that deposit until you confirm the work is done. Part of the pro’s payment is held back for a warranty period after completion, so there is still money on the table if something needs putting right.
