Prices checked October 2026. Three things set the price: the size of the home (bedrooms and bathrooms more than square feet), whether it is a regular or a deep clean, and how often the cleaner comes. A home that is cleaned every two weeks takes less time per visit than one that has not been cleaned in months, which is why recurring visits are cheaper.
How much does a house cleaning cost by home size?
The size of the home sets most of the price. The ranges below come from the published 2026 price pages of six cleaning companies in Toronto and Newmarket. They are company prices for a regular clean, so they are a fair way to check a quote. Most of these companies add 13% HST to the prices shown.
| Home | Regular clean | Deep clean | Time (one cleaner, regular) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio or one-bedroom condo | $120–$195 | $200–$290 | 1.5–2.5 hours |
| Two-bedroom condo or apartment | $150–$260 | $260–$330 | 2–3 hours |
| Three-bedroom house | $200–$340 | $350–$475 | 2.5–3.5 hours |
| Four-bedroom house | $300–$450 | $420–$750 | 3.5–4.5 hours |
Several companies set a three-hour minimum, so a small condo can cost close to a two-bedroom. Add-ons are priced separately almost everywhere: inside the oven or fridge, inside cabinets, interior windows, laundry, and a finished basement counted as an extra room.
How much do house cleaners charge per hour in Toronto?
Cleaning companies that publish an hourly rate charge about $40 to $65 per cleaner per hour in Toronto and Newmarket in 2026, usually with a minimum of two to three hours. Two cleaners for two hours is billed as four cleaner-hours.
The rate is well above what the cleaner earns. Job Bank, the federal labour-market site, lists a median wage of $19.23 an hour for light duty cleaners in the Toronto region (2023–24 data), and Ontario's general minimum wage rose to $17.95 on October 1, 2026. The gap between the wage and the hourly price pays for travel between homes, the employer's CPP and EI contributions, supplies and equipment, insurance, booking, and the company's margin.
What is the difference between a regular clean and a deep clean?
A regular clean keeps a home that is already in decent shape clean; a deep clean resets one that is not. A regular visit covers dusting reachable surfaces, kitchen counters and the outside of appliances, bathrooms, vacuuming and mopping floors, and emptying bins. A deep clean adds the work that builds up between regular visits: baseboards, window sills, door frames and vents, under and behind furniture, the backsplash and range hood, and soap scum and stains in tubs and showers.
Book a deep clean for the first visit with a new cleaner, after a renovation, before or after a move, or once or twice a year between regular cleans. A first deep clean also makes the regular price that follows realistic, because companies price recurring visits on the home being maintained.
Is biweekly or weekly cleaning cheaper per visit?
Yes. Toronto companies publish recurring discounts of about 10% to 20% off each visit, usually starting from the second clean: up to 20% for weekly, about 15% for every two weeks, and about 10% for monthly. The discount reflects real time saved. A home cleaned every two weeks has less build-up, so the same crew finishes faster.
What does house cleaning cost on Doyo?
On Doyo, Standard Cleaning is $70.80 per bedroom with a $177 minimum, and Deep Cleaning is $118 per bedroom with a $295 minimum. Move-out Cleaning is $135.70 per bedroom with a $330.40 minimum. These are the full prices, with Doyo's service fee included, and nothing is added at checkout.
Every cleaner on Doyo passes government photo ID and selfie matching and a police record check. Your card is authorized when a cleaner is confirmed and charged only when the job is completed. Tell the Doyo agent the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, pets, and any rooms to skip or add, and it shows the price before you book.
Is it cheaper to hire an independent cleaner directly?
Often, per hour, but the household takes on more. An independent cleaner you find yourself usually charges less than a company because there is no company margin. The trade-off is that nobody else checks identity or record, covers a no-show, or handles a damaged item.
There is also a legal side. Under Ontario's Employment Standards Act, a person employed by a householder to clean the home is a domestic worker, entitled to at least minimum wage, vacation pay and the Act's other protections. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) says a household that hires a domestic worker must decide whether that person is an employee or self-employed. If the cleaner is an employee, the household has to deduct income tax, CPP and EI and issue a T4. When you hire a company, the cleaner works for the company, not for you.
Do you tip house cleaners in Ontario?
Tipping is optional and not expected on every visit. Many households tip a regular cleaner at the holidays or after a hard job, such as a deep clean or a move-out, rather than each week. On Doyo, tips go 100% to the pro.
