Getting paid

Your rate, Doyo’s fee, your earnings, tips in full, and how the money reaches you.

This one is being filmed. The written version is below.

You set an hourly rate, and that rate is what the job is priced from. When a customer picks you, the job is re-priced to your number before their card is touched — so the figure on your alert, the figure in their confirmation and the amount held are the same number.

Doyo’s fee goes on the customer’s side, on top. It is stamped onto the job the moment you accept: Doyo can change its fees tomorrow and it cannot reach backwards into a job you already took.

Discounts are not your problem

If a customer pays with a coupon or Doyo credit, that comes out of Doyo’s share and is capped at what Doyo made on the job. Your earnings do not move by a cent.

Two ways a job settles

  • Paid through Doyo — the card is held when they choose you, charged when you finish, and your earnings land in your balance right then
  • Paid to you directly — cash or e-transfer on the spot, shown in your ledger as “Not in your balance”, because it is already in your pocket

How the money reaches you

Your balance sits under Earnings, in Canadian dollars. Payouts are sent weekly, by e-transfer. There is nothing to request and no threshold to hit. Tips reach you in full.

Reading your earnings screen

Under the balance is a report: Earned, Online (time you were available), Active (time on a job, from setting off to finishing) and Per hour. Per hour is measured against online time, not active time — the harsh way round, on purpose. Measuring against time on the job would flatter everybody; measuring against time available tells you whether being online was worth it.

Quote jobs hold differently

On a quote job the deposit and the final balance are held — visible and committed, but not yours yet — until the customer confirms the work is done. Then they are released, minus a warranty holdback that follows after the warranty period. Slower, and the reason you can start a large job without wondering whether you will see any of it.
