This is the part that catches new pros out. When you accept, you are not assigned the job. You have made an offer. The order stays open and every pro who says yes joins a list the customer chooses from.
Your screen says so plainly: “Offer sent · Waiting on them. You said yes. They are choosing between the pros who offered — you will be told either way.” Nothing is required of you while you wait, and other jobs still reach you.
What the customer is looking at
- Your photo and your name
- Your rating, and how many jobs you have finished
- Your rate — and what this job costs at it
- How far away you are
- Your tier, if you have earned one
The list is built in the order pros said yes, so answering quickly puts you nearer the top.
Either way, you are told
If they choose you, the app says so straight away and the job moves onto your map. If they choose someone else, the waiting card simply clears. Declining costs nothing and losing costs nothing. Accepting and then cancelling is the one that costs you, because by then someone is expecting you at their door.
