Gouttières et travaux de terrain à Halton Hills, Ontario
Georgetown and Acton’s older streets sit under mature trees — book a gutter clean once most leaves are down, and set the debris out in paper yard waste bags before Halton Region’s weekly yard waste pickup ends in the second week of December. Halton Region collects yard waste weekly on garbage day from the first week of April to the second week of December, in paper yard waste bags or open, labelled rigid containers of up to 125 L and 50 lb. Brush goes out in tied bundles no larger than 2 m by 1 m, with branches up to 7.5 cm across. Halton Hills has no private tree by-law yet — the Town’s Privately-Owned Tree Management Strategy recommends one be considered after more public consultation. Halton Region’s Tree By-law still covers woodlands over 0.5 hectares and the Regional Greenlands System. Halton Hills has no snow-clearing program for seniors and doesn’t clear driveway windrows; it plows about 160 km of sidewalks and paths — just over half the town’s — on main roads and near schools, within 24 to 48 hours of a storm ending. Pushing snow onto the road breaks the Town’s Highway Encumbrance By-law and brings a fine.
