Rural Caledon gets yard-waste pickup only a few times each fall, so big-lot leaf and brush clean-ups are best booked in October and November, before the snow. Peel Region picks up yard waste every other week in Caledon’s urban areas and rural subdivisions, and in rural areas at least eight times a year — four in spring and four in fall. Use kraft paper bags or rigid containers labelled “yard waste” (up to 125 L), each under 20 kg; plastic bags and grass clippings aren’t taken. Since January 1, 2026, Caledon’s Tree Preservation By-law needs a permit to remove or injure a tree 30 cm or more in diameter at 1.37 m above the ground; there is no application fee for now. Dead and hazardous trees are exempt, and trees inside a woodland fall under the separate Woodland Conservation By-law.
