These terms govern your use of the Doyo platform, operated by Doyo Innovative Solutions Inc. ("Doyo", "we", "us") in Ontario, Canada. By creating an account or booking a service you agree to them. You must be at least 18 to use Doyo.
When you book or accept work in the app you also accept the Service Agreement (customers) or the Provider Agreement (pros), which set out the detail of bookings, payments, cancellations and your rights. Where the two differ, the agreement wins.
What Doyo is
Doyo is a marketplace intermediary. We connect customers with independent home-service providers; we do not ourselves perform the services. Providers on Doyo are independent contractors — they are not employees, agents, or partners of Doyo, and they are solely responsible for the quality and performance of the work they carry out.
Bookings and pricing
Prices shown at booking are estimates based on the provider's hourly rate, the estimated duration, and Doyo's fee. Our fee is a percentage of the provider's rate and varies by service, by category, and by the size of the job; the amount that applies is included in the price you are shown before you book. All amounts are in Canadian dollars.
The final amount cannot exceed a written estimate or quote by more than ten per cent unless you agree to the change in writing first, in the order chat. This is your right under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002. If you ask for additional or different work partway through, that is a change of scope, agreed the same way.
The Doyo agent
The Doyo agent is an AI assistant. It helps you describe a job, suggests the service you probably need and drafts a booking — but nothing is booked until you review the price and confirm it. What it says is general information, not professional advice: the pro who comes to the job, and you, decide what work is needed. If something is urgent or dangerous — a gas smell, a fire, a flood you cannot stop — call 911 or your utility first.
Quote jobs
Larger jobs such as renovations are priced by a written quote after a site visit. When you accept a quote you pay a deposit, which Doyo holds until you confirm the work is done; part of the provider's payment is held back for a warranty period after completion. The deposit, the holdback and the period are shown before you accept.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. When a provider is assigned you authorize the order amount on your card; the charge is only captured when the job is completed. If an order is cancelled before completion, the authorization is released (or the charge refunded, if already captured). Doyo never stores your card details.
Doyo credit and rewards
Doyo may give you credit — for example as a reward after a finished job, for a referral, or as an apology when something went wrong. Credit is applied to a future booking and only ever reduces Doyo's fee on that job; the provider is always paid in full. Credit has no cash value, cannot be transferred or withdrawn, may be limited to particular services, and expires on the date shown in the app. We may cancel credit obtained through fraud, fake bookings or misuse, and we can change or end reward programs for the future without affecting credit already issued.
Cancellations
You may cancel an order free of charge while it is being matched or before the provider begins work. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may lead to account restrictions. Providers may also cancel; in that case any payment hold is released in full.
Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate service details and a safe, accessible work location.
- Use the platform lawfully and treat providers respectfully.
- Keep your account credentials secure — you are responsible for activity on your account.
Reviews and reports
Reviews must reflect your genuine experience. We may remove content that is unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent, and may suspend accounts that misuse the platform. You can report a provider from the app; reports are reviewed by our team.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Doyo's total liability for any claim arising out of the platform is limited to the amount you paid for the order giving rise to the claim. Doyo is not liable for the acts or omissions of independent providers, nor for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Ontario law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms from time to time; material changes will be communicated in the app or by email. You may stop using Doyo and delete your account at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Disputes are subject to the courts of Ontario.
