Etobicoke’s lakeshore and Humber Valley streets carry a lot of mature trees — book the gutter clean once most leaves are down, usually early November, and the furnace service before the first cold week. Grass clippings, sod and soil are not taken. Toronto’s Private Tree By-law needs a permit to injure or remove a tree 30 cm or more in diameter, measured 1.4 m above the ground; in ravine and natural feature areas any size needs one.
