Permisos de construcción
Aurora needs no building permit to finish a basement with no structural work and no new bedrooms, for a deck no more than 0.6 m (2 ft) above grade with no roof, for a shed of 15 m² or less with no plumbing, or for a fence that does not enclose a pool. Furnace and boiler replacements in a house need none either; new plumbing may need a separate plumbing permit.

Aurora’s Private Tree Protection By-law lets a homeowner remove two trees over 20 cm in diameter in 12 months without a permit (more on large lots); trees of 20 cm or less are exempt. Any tree in the heritage district, and any heritage tree, needs a permit.

Aurora’s heritage conservation district is Northeast Old Aurora. Exterior alterations, new construction and demolition there need the Town’s approval first — and so does removing any tree in the district.
